Paprikás csirke nokedlivel

In other words today we have chicken paprikash with noodles, but you can well serve it with bread or potatoes. It’s always a dilemma when preparing dishes you are not very familiar with, i.e. you don’t know much about their history etc. I always feel like running a risk of creating a dish that has little to do with its name. Hopefully it’s not the case this time. I know in some recipes people add potatoes as well or don’t add tomatoes. The bottom line is to cook something you will enjoy and that’s what we have here. I love the pepper taste and tomato doesn’t bother me here at all, it just adds some body to the sauce.

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • salt, pepper
  • cumin
  • marjoram
  • sweet pepper powder
  • lemon juice
  • 2 spoons tomato puree
  • olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 teaspoons flour

Wash and cut your chicken breast. I dice them into medium sized chunks but you can just make them fairly bigger. Put your diced chicken into a pot and add grated garlic, lemon juice, 2 spoons of tomato puree and a bit of olive oil. Then add all the spices and be very generous with sweet pepper. Chicken pieces should be covered in red pepper. Mix everything well and leave it to marinate for around one hour. Then add the chopped onions and peppers along with water. Mix again and let it cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Then add peeled and chopped tomatoes and continue cooking another 20 minutes on medium heat. While the chicken cooks your sauce will be reducing as well. In the meantime take half a cup of your sauce out of the cooking pot and add 2 spoons of flour to it. Mix it really well so that all the flour dissolves and there are no particles left floating in your cup. Add this flour mixture by the end of cooking when the sauce has reduced substantially. Taste and check for seasoning, if needed add more spices at this point. Then plop in your flour mixture, mix well and cook for another minute. Serve with noodles, bread or potatoes.

If you want to go totally gorgeous with this dish you can add the chicken breast as it is whole, maybe just cut in half to make it cook faster continue according to the recipe then when ready take the chicken breast out of the sauce. Blend the sauce to make it absolutely beautiful. Plate the chicken and pour the sauce all over.
